all packed up…

24 01 2008

my exceptional family spent time last week to begin packing my house. i only spent about 4 hours putting things in boxes. it was great because i got to spend the majority of time with friends and family. its a weird feeling to pack up your house and to have strangers move in. this whole things feels more real now that my stuff is on the truck and headed out here. i got the keys to my condo today and i’m ready to start painting this weekend. it’s going to be a busy few days getting ready for the big drop off on monday. i’m ready to sleep in my own bed!

this morning was one of those unbelievable views of the mountains. the sunrise cast a purple glow on the mountains which i’m not sure is totally visible in these pictures. this purple glow is what is referred to in the famous song america the beautiful which was written in colorado springs while the author stayed at the antlers hotel in in the springs. i’m not sure these views are ever going to get old.

America the Beautiful by Katherine Lee BatesIMG 0660

O beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea
