finally rested!
29 03 2008i really must have needed some sleep evidenced by me not waking up until 10:30am!!! I can’t remember the last time that i slept that late. after a couple of night of restless sleep this week i relaly needed the rest. i have a huge week ahead of me so i’m thankful for the good night’s rest. i’ll probably be up half the night but at least it was a solid night’s sleep…i’m sure someday i won’t have this luxury.

warning from headquarters
27 03 2008so i got the following two e-mails this week from my employer. i guess i should be glad they sent it although it does make me a little jumpy. i find myself looking over my shoulder for a lurking creature…highlighted phrases are my favorites
received on tuesday march 25…
Mountain Lion Sighting – Pam, our security guard here at HQ, has spotted one of the big cats twice in the past several days. The first time was across the road on the hiker’s trail. Today the cat was seen about noon coming down the stony ridge on our property and crossing down into the gulley just to the south of the south parking lot. Staff and guests should take extra care when outside especially near dawn and dusk. It may be that hunger is causing it to be out in the daylight hours. (Facilities)

Mountain Lion Sightings
We are being blessed by sightings of one or possibly both mountain lions who have lived on the property for quite some time now. We are entering the time of year that the big horn sheep are getting ready to give birth. I speak with DOW (Division of Wildlife) a couple of times a week, and they tell me that about a dozen of the ewes are pregnant. The DOW is monitoring the herd closely because of this. For an unknown reason the herd has been spending more time on the property then normal for this time of year. I suspect that this is why we are seeing increased sightings of the mountain lions. The lions are most likely watching the herd and waiting for the new lambs to arrive.
If you walk in the area around dawn or dusk, staying in a group is helpful. If you use a walking stick, attaching a small bell is also helpful. Mountain lions do not view humans (adults) as prey and try to avoid us whenever possible. If you do come in close proximity with a mountain lion, DO NOT RUN! Running triggers their natural instinct to chase. They have four legs we only have two, the math says we can’t run faster.
I would suggest keeping a camera with you to capture some glimpses of one of the most beautiful animals God has blessed this area with. If you notice the mountain lions “patrolling” closer to the buildings or in the parking lots please let me know so I can keep DOW posted.
This is why we live in Colorado!

together in christ
25 03 2008last night was such a sweet example of what happens when christians gather in his name. no matter the size of the group…last night was 5 at pike’s perk…he shows up in a big way. after all he does promise where two or three are gathered in his name he will show up. he did just that. i joined a community group a coupe of weeks ago and last night was my favorite. we sat around the table and talked about what we did for easter, where we’ve traveled to, and how we met me jesus. we don’t know each other very well but the lord binds our hearts together. thanks girls for accepting me into the group. i’m looking forward to growing with you!

he is risen!
23 03 2008he is risen indeed! the cross of jesus christ gets alot of focus during easter and rightfully so, but i often don’t think about what would have happened if jesus would not have risen. there would be no victory over death if jesus would not have gotten out of that tomb. because he’s alive i have a whole new identity. my life is not about how well i can perform or trying to earn his love. i simply have to live out my new identity in christ. this performance vs. trust and faith is a continueds struggle in my mind. i know the lord is going to help sort through this new shift in thinking. more than anything i’m glad that christ is risen!
