weekend wrap-up

29 06 2008

once again another weekend is almost complete. why do they seem to go so much faster than the work week? this particiular weekend was filled with productive activity some of which helped me to unplug from work and destress.

(1) friday night was errands. best purchase of the night was finally finding a desk so i can have an office at home.

(2) cleaning and organizing which can always make be me feel better (i know…i’m twisted)

(3) found a place that could squeeze me in for a haircut which is one of my favorite things in the world.

(4) breakfast and bible study on the balcony. how can you stress when it’s 60 degrees in june and you can see the mountains

(5) short time by the pool that included a visit from a deer that walked right up to the fence

(6) reading (the shack) and even a short nap which i NEVER do

(7) packing and some more reading tonight to round out a relaxing yet productive weekend

the countdown is on…

26 06 2008

in just 5 days i’ll be on the plane headed for nashville. i was planning on coming back for the 4th of july. since i’m tagging on some work i’m leaving on tuesday night instead of thursday night. i’m glad for a couple of extra evenings to see friends and mostly to hang out with my family. i’ve been on the phone tonight lining up time to spend with one of my best friends. i absolutely can’t wait to see her in person. i really need the break and it will be good to be around people who really know me. there is lots to do including the suitcase dilemma in order to feel ready to be gone, but i’m sure i’ll get it all done.

unless the lord builds it…

24 06 2008

the workers work in vain..ps 127:1. “…did not seek the Lord’s counsel”…joshua 9:14. thes are 2 verses the lord is continually putting on my mind. i’ve been so convicted about not seeking his guidance and not listening about what he has to say about my work. i’ve been given an enormous amount of work to accomplish. i’m starting to realize that i’m simply the steward of these projects. it is the lord’s work and he surely has something to say about how the work gets done. i have one specific project where i know i have not sought the lord. in doing so over the last several days the lord changed my plan and is beginning to put a renewed passion in my heart. i love that the lord wants to be involved in every area of our lives. are there areas of your life that you are building under your own strength? ask the lord what he might have to say about those areas. i bet he’ll rock your world!

religion in america

23 06 2008

i caught the national news on abc tonight before heading to bible study. the lead story tonight was on faith in america. based on the new study by the pew forum the focus on the story was on how high percentages of religious people including evangelicals believe that there is not just one way to eternal. while the study is not shocking, it does provide a challenge to me as i learn to live and disciple among the lost. how do i share my faith and tell the story of redemption in this kind of culture? why is it so important that people have a true and intimate relationship with jesus? how do i communicate that having a relationship with jesus is so much more than fire insurance?

what are your thoughts? how do you engage your culture with the message of jesus?

new little tool

22 06 2008

i had custom ringtones on my old phone and of course those all went away when i got my blackberry. i’ve been trying to find a tool that would allow me to make my own ringtones from my itunes music. make own ringtone exceeded my expectations. if you’re bored with your phone tune tap into this this tool! fyi…if you’re using music protected by drm make sure to burn the songs on a cd first and then upload them to the site.
